Comparing Italian Canadian and Japanese Canadian Interment

The story of Italian Canadian internment begins in 1940, when Italy under the rule of Mussolini entered the war on the opposite side of Canada. In response, approximately 31,000 Italian Canadians were registered as enemy aliens, and forced to report to RCMP stations once a month. From those classified as enemy aliens, about 619 men and 13 women were interned.
