Italian-Canadian Narratives Showcase

The material presented in the Italian-Canadian Narratives Showcase comes from public and private archives, university students’ work, local Italian-Canadian clubs and associations. The projects showcase the history and the role of Italian migrants in Canada from the late 19th century to the present.

Featured Project

While ethnographic studies and historical accounts of Italian-Canadian exist, there is not much available that provides insight into the domestic sphere of Italian immigrant homes and still less about the perspectives of women and mothers.

The perspective of Italian immigrant women and mothers is a complex and yet shared experience that remains largely unexplored in sufficient depth.

Archival Research of Italian-Canadian Immigration and Culture

Archival Research of Italian-Canadian Immigration and Culture represents biannual projects by undergraduate students. Students research national, provincial, and local city archives to learn more about Italian immigration to Canada, Italian heritage and traditions, and Italian-Canadian Contributions
